On April, 7th has been celebrated World Health Day, promoted every year by WHO to remind key healthcare issues. This year, WHD was dedicated to nurses and midwives, fundamental figures especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there are a lot of other professionals working every day to guarantee healthcare rights, in order to have a sanitary system capable of sustainable and safe treatments.

Also metrology works to support healthcare: many laboratories and research projects developing expertise and techniques guarantee precise and reliable measurements. More accurate measurements support more precise diagnosis, safer treatments and medical techniques.

This year INRiM promotes World Health Day along with many other european metrological institutes as members of European Association of National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET). EURAMET coordinates many european research projects to support healthcare, in which also INRiM participates leading its contribution

Furthermore, given the public attention on healthcare issues, some of the INRiM researchers are offering their expertise to support diagnosis and treatments of COVID-19.
