PhD in Metrology
INRIM and the Politecnico di Torino have a long history of cooperation in metrology. Today, they work together on several research projects at both national and international level, for instance within the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR).
In the last years, metrology has expanded its research fields in accordance to the attention of the society addressed to new issues such as the sustainable development, the food safety, and the protection of the environment.
In convention with the Politecnico di Torino, INRIM is therefore proposing a PhD course for a training in
- “classical” metrology, focused on the fundamental constants of physics and on the development of quantum technologies to realize the reference standards of the measurement units of the International System
- “innovative” metrology, focused on new research areas such as the industrial processes, the energy, the environment, the biosciences, the agricultural and food sector, and the nanotechnologies.
Lessons take place at Politecnico or at INRIM.
