In the paper “A difference of consequence”, published in Nature Physics by Andrea Merlone, Chiara Musacchio and Walter Bich INRiM researchers, retraces the stages that led the two scientific communities: the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Metrology with the International Bureau of Weights and the Measures (BIPM), at the signing of the Geneva agreement, in 2010.
The agreement in which the two communities mutually recognized each other paved the way for a profound collaboration, with mutual exchange of experts, international projects, development of guidelines and shared documents.
In this scenario, INRiM, with its laboratories, measurement sites, activities in the Arctic and high mountains and the MeteoMet project, immediately acquired a leading role.
