On November 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., the seminar “Combating Gender-Based Violence in the Workplace: How to Recognize It, How to Act, and How to Intervene” will take place in the Querzoli Conference Room at LENS (European Laboratory for Nonlinear Spectroscopy), via Nello Carrara 1, Sesto Fiorentino.

Organized on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the seminar will offer a multidimensional analysis of gender-based violence in the workplace as a manifestation of structural power inequalities and discriminatory organizational dynamics.

The presentation will outline the national and international regulatory framework (including ILO Convention No. 190 and the recent EU Directive 2023/970), which recognize violence and harassment as barriers to gender equality at work. Statistical data on the phenomenon and its economic and social impacts will also be presented.

Special attention will be given to methods for early detection of risk indicators (such as microaggressions, hostile behaviors, and social exclusion) and to the development of institutional response models (corporate policies, ethics committees, listening desks, disciplinary procedures) integrated within diversity and inclusion strategies.

Examples of best practices and evidence-based tools aimed at strengthening organizational resilience and protecting individual rights will be discussed, along with a reflection on the main implementation challenges: underreporting, cultural barriers, and organizational silence.

Remote participation is available at the following link.

The event is jointly organized by LENSUniversity of FlorenceNational Research Council (CNR)INRiM, and INFN.
