Activities in the field of ultrasound include the metrological characterization of ultrasonic probes through the measurement of the main beam parameters, such as acoustic pressure, power and intensity, in support of biomedical and industrial applications. These activities enable the assessment of device performance and the verification of compliance with safety requirements and measurement quality.

The activities also include the design, development and characterization of dedicated insonation systems, operating over a wide frequency range, for research and experimental applications in the biomedical field. The developed systems are used for controlled ultrasound exposure studies and for the validation of advanced measurement methodologies.

Within the research framework, innovative procedures and techniques are developed with the aim of improving measurement accuracy and reducing measurement uncertainties, in accordance with the principles of metrological traceability and standardization.
