TIFOON

The TIFOON project aims at investigating advanced technologies for the distribution of time and frequency signals using optical fibers, improving their performances and regular operation capability and reaching other scientific users beyond the core metrology community. INRIM participates to TIFOON with the Italian Quantum Backbone, a 1800 km fiber infrastructure that reaches the main Italian radio-telescopes (Medicina and Matera), satellite navigation facilities and since 2021 is connected to the European fiber network of Metrological Institutes.
