On May 28, 2026, at 10:30 AM Dr. Marco Schioppo (National Physical Laboratory - NPL, UK) will lead the seminar entitled "Ultrastable lasers for optical frequency metrology at NPL”.
The seminar will present the latest activities of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in the development of ultrastable lasers intended to support the future redefinition of the second.
The technologies used to achieve high stability performance in continuous operation will be illustrated, with particular attention to ultra-low thermal noise optical cavities, the main current limitations, and the strategies adopted to reduce the effects of seismic noise and extend long-term stability.
The event will take place in the Conference Room of Building M (floor -1) at the INRiM Campus, Strada delle Cacce 91, Turin.
