The European Researchers' Night is back. Since 2005, this event, promoted and funded by the European Commission, has been the occasion in hundreds of European cities to learn about the world of research, its challenges and achievements. This year, the programme of over two hundred activities includes the presentation of experiments and prototypes, scientific cafes, exhibitions, museum visits, shows and games.
As usual, the event will be held on the last Friday of September and, like last year, will continue until Saturday evening. Friday, September 30, from 5 pm to midnight, and Saturday, October 1, from 10 am to 7 pm, the appointment will be at the Rectorate Palace of the University of Turin, in the courtyard of Palace Badini-Confalonieri, in the new spaces of Palace Aldo Moro, at Palazzo Nuovo, at the Castello del Valentino, the Botanical Garden and the Palace of Anatomical Institutes with the University museums.
In Turin this year, the Night is part of the UNIGHT - United Citizens for Research European project. This project involves the partners of the Alliance "UNITA - Universitas Montium": the University of Turin, the University of Beira Interior (Portugal), the University of Pau and the Countries of Adour (France), the Savoie University - Mont Blanc (France) and the University of Vest Din Timisoara (Romania). Coordinated by the University of Turin, UNIGHT can count on the participation of over 1500 researchers from the University and Politecnico di Torino and the research institutes of Piedmont.
The National Institute for Metrological Research (INRiM) participates in this edition of the Night by proposing a surprising "Journey into the world of measurements" for the section "Laboratories of research" and six conferences for the "Scientific Cafes".
Both activities will take place in the Palace Aldo Moro in Sant'Ottavio street at the corner with Verdi Street.

Saturday
10 am, Room S2
Luca Zilberti, Col rotare fulmineo d’un campo (By the lightning-fast rotating of a field)
History of Galileo Ferraris and its induction engine
Noon, Talk Area
Domenico Giordano, Come risparmiare energia nel trasporto ferroviario e metropolitano (How to save energy in rail and metro transport)
The topic of energy saving is more and more current. How can we save energy? In 100 kilometres, during braking, 15 regional trains dissipate what 365 families consume in a year. How can we recover this energy?
2:30 pm, Room S2
Lorenzo Pattelli, Come raffreddare senza elettricità: una nuova fonte di energia rinnovabile… dallo spazio! (How to cool without electricity: a new renewable energy source... from space!)
Reducing emissions and consumption due to cooling systems becomes possible with new materials that cool spontaneously, dispersing thermal energy towards space. Let's learn more about this topic while we take a scientific cafe.
4 pm, Room S2
Andrea Merlone, Comprendere il clima da luoghi estremi (Understanding the climate from extreme locations)
Accurate measurements of different parameters in extreme locations such as the high mountains let us understand and predict the climate trend. So let's talk together to see what is awaiting us in the next future.
5 pm, Talk Area
Angelo Sardi - Sì, sì, sì, sembra facile (Yes, yes, yes, it seems easy)
The old slogan of the Moka Express Bialetti coffee makers could be helpful to comment on many press reports about methods and technological solutions for the energy transition. Because it is not as simple as it seems. Let's find out why.
6 pm, Talk Area
Mauro Zucca - La ricarica senza fili dei veicoli elettrici (Wireless charging of electric vehicles)
Inductive or wireless charging can promote electric mobility, which affects many industries and involves road vehicles, industrial vehicles, drones and light aircraft, boats and rail transport.
