General Conditions
Manuscript submission must be performed using the official institutional name [Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica], utilizing either an institutional email account [inrim.it] or an authorized INRIM IP address. The publisher necessitates an affiliation check conducted by the INRIM Library contact person.
The purpose of this verification is to validate the author's current affiliation with the Institute.
A list of active transformative agreements follows below:
1. Springer (Publish & Read COMPACT)
The agreement excludes Nature-branded journals. Participation provides the opportunity to publish an extensive number of Open Access articles in hybrid journals hosted on the SpringerLink platform (https://link.springer.com/). Article Processing Charges (APCs) are included in the subscription payment.
Duration: The agreement is under extension for 2026. The eligibility for fee-free Open Access publication in hybrid journals applies to articles with an acceptance date of July 1, 2025, or later.
Details: The corresponding author is entitled to publish a high number of articles in Gold Open Access.
Eligible Journals: Only in hybrid journals available on the SpringerLink platform.
Article Types: Original papers and review papers. Brief communications are excluded.
License: OA CC-BY 4.0.
Costs: Costs are included in the subscription activated by the INRIM Library.
2. Wiley (Publish & Read)
Membership includes the possibility of publishing a large number of articles in Open Access in Wiley hybrid journals. The publication costs are already included in the amount paid for the subscription.
Duration: 2024-2027
Details: The corresponding author is eligible to publish an extensive number of articles under Gold Open Access terms.
Eligible Journals: All hybrid and Fully (Gold) Open Access journals hosted on the Wiley Online Library (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/).
Article Types: Original research and review papers. Brief communications are not covered.
License: OA CC-BY 4.0.
Costs: Costs are covered under the subscription agreement managed by the INRIM Library.
Please note: Approval for Fully Open Access journals is subject to the availability of funds after hybrid journal requirements are met. The allocation of the publication fund prioritizes hybrid journals over Fully Open Access titles.
3. IEEE (Publish&Read)
Membership includes the possibility of publishing a limited number of articles in Open Access Accepted from 1 November 2025 in IEEE hybrid journals, with CC By 4.0 license. More information here.
Duration: November 1, 2025 – December 31, 2027
Details: Unlimited OA publishing in hybrid and OA journals on the IEEE platform.
Eligible Journals: Only IEEE hybrid and OA journals.
License: OA CC-BY 4.0.
Costs: Covered by the INRIM library subscription.
4. Elsevier (Publish&Read)
Membership includes the possibility of publishing a high number of Gold OA articles in hybrid journals, starting from July 1, 2023.
The types of articles covered by the agreement are as follows:
- Original Paper
- Review Paper
- Case Report
Duration: July 1, 2023 – December 31, 2027.
Where to Publish: In hybrid journal titles and a limited number of fully Open Access titles (check with the library to confirm if the chosen journal is included in the list).
Required License: OA CC-BY 4.0.
Who Covers the Costs? The costs are included in the subscription paid by the INRIM library.
5. AIP (Publish&Read)
Membership includes the possibility of publishing an unlimited number of articles in Open Access in AIP hybrid journals.
The types of articles covered by the agreement are as follows:
- Article
- Conference Article
- Letter
- Research Update
- Review
The publication costs are already included in the amount paid for the subscription.
Duration: 2023-2026
License: OA CC-BY 4.0.
