The ROCIT project aims to increase the robustness of optical clocks and provides for a coordinated program of international comparisons, also by optical fiber.
The objective is to bring European optical clocks to contribute to international time scales, with technological and scientific benefits in view of an optical redefinition of the second.
INRIM participates with the optical clock based on ytterbium atoms "IT-Yb1" and with the Italian backbone for the distribution of the frequency in optical fiber, the "Quantum Backbone".
