The group studies the magnetic properties of standard and innovative materials for applications in energy, space, biomedicine and electronics, of new compounds, and of natural magnetic materials over various operating conditions, frequencies and temperatures.

It also deals with studying the behaviour of devices where the magnetic material has been reduced in size, almost to the atomic scale. For example, thin films or multilayers of nanometric thickness, nanolithography devices, and nanoparticles fall into this domain.

In particular the group is active in the following domains:

• Magnetism, National Metrology Institute role and measurements for industrial stakeholders;
• Emerging applications for energy, biomedicine and industry.
